Privacy & data protection
Last updated: 21 June 2026
From the Field is not open yet. Right now the only personal data we collect is what you give us when you register interest on our waitlist. This notice explains what we do with it, your rights under UK data protection law, and how to raise a concern. We'll publish a fuller policy before the marketplace launches.
Who we are
"From the Field" is the data controller for the personal data described here. From the Field currently operates as a sole trader; the full legal operator details are available on request. For anything in this notice, contact us at privacy@fromthefield.uk.
What we collect, and why
When you register interest on the waitlist, we collect:
- your email address;
- whether you registered to buy local produce or to sell as a producer;
- the date and time you registered.
We use this only to let you know when we launch — and, for producers, to get in touch about onboarding. Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you submit the form. We do not use your details for advertising, and we never sell them.
Who processes it
We use a small number of reputable providers who process data on our behalf, under contract and only on our instructions:
- Supabase — our database;
- Vercel — our website hosting;
- ImprovMX — email forwarding for our contact address.
Where data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by appropriate safeguards. We do not share your data with anyone else.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist details until we launch and have contacted you, plus a short reasonable period afterwards — or until you ask us to remove you, whichever comes first. Ask any time at privacy@fromthefield.ukand we'll delete your details.
Cookies
This waitlist site uses only what is strictly necessary to function. We do not use tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- object to, or restrict, our use of your data;
- ask for a copy of your data in a portable format.
To exercise any of these, email privacy@fromthefield.uk. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and won't affect anything we did before you withdrew.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first at privacy@fromthefield.uk — we take concerns seriously and will respond promptly.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's data-protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We'll update this page as From the Field develops, and revise the "last updated" date above when we do.
